It all started when I was three years old when my mom gave me my first box of 64-count Crayons, the one, with the sharpener on the back of the box. Next, along came colored pencils, markers, paints and art lessons. In junior high, I learned to throw clay using a standing kick wheel. I received an Associates Degree from St. Clair County Community College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
My career path has included the education and health fields, county government and I was the former Marketing Director for McMorran Place in downtown Port Huron. Red Mudd Studio began in my basement in 2005 with one wheel and a sink. In the past years, the studio has grown and moved into the pole barn with over 900 square feet devoted to pottery, pit firing, Girl’s Night Out Classes and much more. Stop by, visit, and see the gallery and the working studio space that houses wheels, gas and electric kilns, a handicapped accessible bathroom and much more.
Prices for my pieces vary. My work can be purchased by contacting me directly at the studio phone number or by visiting my studio by chance or appointment. If you would like to buy a piece of pottery from the blog, please use the “Contact” tab above to send me an email. I will email you back with a confirmation that the piece is available and I will hold it until I receive payment. The piece will be shipped via the U.S. Postal Service or United Parcel Service, I will let you know the shipping cost. For shipments to Michigan addresses, a 6% sales tax will be added. These rates are for the continental United States only.
Here are a few pictures of the studio, pond and back of the house.
